I served two years in the Kentucky Army National Guard (1984–1986, C Co, 1/123rd Armor) followed by seven years on active duty (1986–1993, 2/77 Armor; 1/33 Armor; 1/72 Armor; 4/64 Armor), building a career defined by loyalty, technical skill, and a deep love for the Armor community. Over the course of my service, I crewed nearly every major U.S. tank of my era, including the M48A5, M60A1, M60A3 (my personal favorite), the M1IP, and the M1A1—which I rode into Operation Desert Storm with D22, 4/64 Armor.
Beyond the vehicles I’ve crewed and the missions I’ve completed, my greatest source of pride has always been the people. Throughout the years, I’ve formed lifelong bonds with Armor soldiers from across generations—men I never directly served with but who became brothers through shared experience, shared purpose, and the enduring strength of the Brotherhood.
As a founding member of the United States Army Brotherhood of Tankers (USABOT), I’ve witnessed the organization grow through both challenges and triumphs, always believing that the good far outweighs the bad. My commitment to the mission and the membership has remained unwavering. I served two terms as the first Executive Officer of the 3rd Battalion following its formation and, in January 2025, assumed duties as the organization’s G1—where, as I like to say, “so far, I’ve managed not to get fired.”
Grounded by experience and driven by service, I continue to dedicate my time and energy to preserving Armor history, supporting recruitment, strengthening camaraderie, and upholding the Brotherhood.
